Road & Regulatory Signs
A regulatory sign is a type of traffic sign intended to instruct road users on what they must or should do (or not do) under a given set of circumstances. The term regulatory sign describes a range of signs that are used to indicate or reinforce traffic laws, regulations or requirements which apply either at all times or at specified times or places upon a street or highway, the disregard of which may constitute a violation.
Traffic & Warning Signs
A warning sign is a type of traffic sign that indicates a hazard ahead on the road that may not be readily apparent to a driver. These signs typically warn of a dangerous or unusual condition ahead and usually have a yellow background with black letters or symbols.
Temporary Conditions & Construction Signs
A temporary condition or construction traffic sign is erected to warn drivers of unexpected temporary driving conditions such as road work zones, diversions, detours, lane closures or traffic control people on the road. They are usually diamond-shaped with an orange background and black letters or symbols.
Neighbourhood & Guide & Tourism & Commercial Signs
Information signs give information about direction and distance, usually guiding drivers to destinations, facilities, services and attractions. Often these signs have names of locations with an arrow pointing towards the direction of the destination and a number giving the approximate distance.
Parking Control Signs
There are a number of types of parking control signs such as Permissive Parking signs, No Parking signs, No Standing signs, and No Stopping signs.
As all situations are not covered, many local governments have established their own standards or by-laws in addition to those found within the Regulatory Signs section.

Street Name Signs
There are many details that differ from one town or city to the next. For example, the color of the street signs is not always the same. While green is extremely common, there are many other colours that are used often including but not limited to white and blue. Some street signs are plain, only containing text. Others are full of other information such as the town logo, numbers, or other symbols such as an arrow or a poppy. The one thing that never changes is that all street signs are easy to read.
